In preparation for the Sesquicentennial, a number of states have formed commissions and established websites that tell of the collective efforts of their partners. Since this is a multi-year and multi-faceted commemoration period we will update this page as more states develop programs.

The Fairfax County Steering Committee began officially planning for the commemoration in 2009. The 150th anniversary of the Civil War holds tremendous educational, economic, and tourism opportunities throughout our county and our region.
