Become a Citizen Ambassador

Do you love Fairfax County, Virginia? Do you want to be able to spread that love of Fairfax County to the rest of the country and beyond? Do you want to be known as an expert about all things Fairfax?
GREAT NEWS! Visit Fairfax is reaching out to fantastic people like you to take on an easy, yet exciting role of honorary Citizen Ambassador so that you can share with others the wonders in Fairfax County. There are no set hours and it is all volunteer. The reward is knowing that you are inspiring your friends and family to come and enjoy the wonders of the place you call home.


  • Step 1: Come into our Visitor Center in Tysons Corner Center (on the second level near Nordstrom). 
    • Announce to our friendly counselors that you wish to become a Fairfax County Citizen Ambassador. They will present you with a CA Starter Kit, containing just what you need for your new role: a Fairfax County Visitor Guide and some fun gifts to start you on your way.
    • Email Sue Porter at Visit Fairfax (sporter@fxva.com) to let her know you are joining the team.

 

  • Step 2: Build on your passions. Chances are you already know a little about Fairfax. 
    • Skim our website to find a site or attraction that speaks to your passion. Take a few minutes to read about the site and even consider planning a visit. 
    • Jot down 3 points about what you learn. Consider posting it to our Facebook page www.facebook.com/visitfairfaxva  

 

  • Step 3: Learn more at a special class and earn the chance to win a prize for signing up.
    • Sue will give you the details.

 

  • Step 4: Start spreading the word!
    • Tell your friends and family via Facebook and Twitter about our great vacation spots; encourage them to plan a family reunion here
    • Use what you learn to strike up conversations during office meetings, networking and community events
    • Volunteer at Celebrate Fairfax or other community events
