Like a blue moon, this doesn’t happen very often. Colvin Run Mill Historic Site is opening all four floors of its mill to a public tour.

This is an opportunity to see the entire historic mill, including areas that are rarely open to the public. The Four Floor Tour with the Miller program will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2016. Reservations must be made by Tuesday, October 4 by calling 703-759-2771.

This extended tour may last up to two hours. The second and third floors of the building are not ADA accessible, but alternative arrangements can be made for those who cannot climb stairs. Officials advise wearing comfortable shoes because the stairs are steep.

The suggested donation for the tour is $10 per person.

Colvin Run Mill Historic Site is open every day of the week, and regular mill tours are offered from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. except on Tuesdays when park facilities are closed. Those tours do not include access to the complete facility. Colvin Run presents grinding demonstrations at the mill on the first and third Sundays of each month through October.
