Celebrate Earth Day with the American Horticultural Society at its Spring Garden Market at River Farm in Alexandria, Virginia. Vendors from across the Mid-Atlantic region will offer a large selection of plants such as vegetable seedlings, natives, unusual trees, and pollinator favorites. Garden art, tools, and other accessories also will be available. Master Gardeners will be on hand to answer gardening questions.

Other highlights of the event include Kino Criations’s adorable baby alpacas to pet and feed, delicious food from Rocklands Barbeque and Grilling Company, and a free raffle for garden goodies. A limited selection of carts and wagons will be available for toting purchases, but guests are encouraged to bring their own and to make use of the plant holding station to stash items in a central spot until your shopping is complete.

American Horticultural Society members are invited to Members’ Morning from 10 a.m. to noon on April 21. Enjoy complimentary coffee, plus the chance to shop with minimal crowds while taking first pick of plants and other items. The event then opens to all from noon to 4 p.m. and continues on Saturday, April 22 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Parking is $5 (cash only) per car; waived for AHS members showing a valid membership card or other proof of membership such as an online receipt. Non-members who join during the event can apply this fee to a new membership.
