The most famous story to come out of J.E.B. Stuart's 1862 Christmas Raid was his sending a telegraph from Burke's Station to the Union Quartermaster complaining that the poor quality of Union mules he just captured was such that they were incapable of pulling all the supplies that Stuart and his men had secured.
