Fairfax County's First Winery!
The year 2010 marked a milestone for Fairfax County. Paradise Springs Winery in Clifton, Fairfax County's first and only vineyard, officially opened for business. This award winning vineyard is the product of an inspiring mix of dreams, family, and history.
Jane Kincheloe and Kirk Wyles, mother and son, have teamed up to fulfill a dream that started decades ago with their late aunt Esther Podolnick. The dream was to create a winery on the historic family land that had been passed down since Lord Fairfax, the County's namesake. Others in the past have tried to create the haven that is Paradise Springs Winery but failed.
The newly opening winery is not the first establishment to don the name Paradise Springs. In fact, one of Clifton's major draws was its mineral springs on the west side of town. Illustrious figures like presidents and generals visited the resort like area frequently. Eventually the mineral springs which were thought to have healing properties were used to make bottled water; thus the name 'Paradise Springs' was born.
