Bring someone special and join us at the Workhouse Arts Center, 9601 Ox Road, Lorton, VA for an evening of cooking and fun at Date Night: Chef's Kitchen! These cooking classes are designed to be fun, relaxing and an escape from the daily grind. They are a great way to learn some basic cooking techniques while enjoying your family and friends. The menu items will be prepared by participants working together at each of the cooking islands. Participants will be served a tasting portion of all the entrées. No one will leave hungry! These classes are very popular and a great way to meet new friends. Register early!! Every month you will prepare a new dish ranging from ethnic cuisines like Japanese, Thai and Spanish High Cuisine to Vegetarian and much more! *Reservations are required and must be made at least two days prior to event start date. 5th Annual Ice Cream Social

The 2013 Workhouse Ceramics Program Ice Cream Social Fundraiser will occur on July 13, 2013 from 12-4pm at the Workhouse Arts Center, 9601 Ox Road, Lorton, VA 22079. The event involves the sale of hand-made ice cream bowls created by our students, ceramic artists and instructors. Participants pay $15 per bowl and are given Ice Cream and toppings (included in purchase price), listen to the Backyard Blues Band, take pony rides with Tamarack stables, visit with Crosspointe local Fire Station #41, watch other on-site artist demonstrations, buy a raffle ticket for $5 to win a ceramics sculpture by ceramic artist John Donovan ($1250 value). The event is fully sponsored by local businesses such as Hershey’s Ice Cream and Food, Giant Food, Tamarack Stables, Z Pizza, and Chicago Uno Grill-#712. It involves over 20 ceramics program volunteers and all items and services (ice cream, band, etc.) are provided pro-bono for the event. Each participating business is allowed to promote their businesses by distributing literature, etc. Attendance has averaged over 1,200 people per year and funds raised have averaged over $10,000 for the Ceramics Program.

World Tour Dinner Series: Asia and the Pacific

Vinifera's World Tour is a dinner series that started in 2009 and has since gained immense popularity. Attendees receive a Vinifera passport and stamp for the specific country/region featured at their dinner. After receiving three passport stamps, patrons are entered into a drawing to win an overnight stay at The Westin Reston Heights and breakfast for two at Vinifera. 2013 World Tour Dinners include Asia/Pacific on September 21, Germany & Poland on October 19 and France on November 9.

Mount Vernon Fall Wine Festival & Sunset Tour

Mount Vernon's Fall Wine Festival & Sunset Tour celebrates the history of wine in Virginia with candlelit tours of the Mansion, including the rarely-open basement where Washington stored his wine, and live blues on the east lawn overlooking the scenic Potomac River. Guests can sample wines from 16 Virginia wineries, learn about the successes and failures of our Founding Father's wine endeavors, and meet "George and Martha Washington" on the Mansion's piazza.

Concessions by the Mount Vernon Inn are available for purchase. Outside food and beverage are not allowed.

Advance ticket purchase is recommended for this popular event. Tickets are $38 per person and fruit and cheese boxes are $26 each. Ticket sales begin August 26 at 10:00 a.m. online or at Mount Vernon's Ford Orientation Center. Members may purchase their tickets in advance August 19-23.
