National Parks

Fairfax County boasts two truly unique National Parks that are loaded with great activities. One of which, Wolf Trap is the only National Park dedicated to the performing arts. The second, Great Falls, is a scenic masterpiece with trails and a newly renovated visitor's center.

Herndon Nature Fest

Educational and FUN! event to explore the outdoors. Participants enjoy thirteen stations which lead you through the park that include hands on activities, educational events, wildlife visitors and arts. Passports are stamped at each station to receive a treat at the end with a completed passport. Stations include: bees, birds, recycling, web of life, rain gardens/rain barrels, life in the stream (fish), native plants, forest habitat,water quality, meadow adventures,wildlife management, farm life and butterflies.
