May 27, Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts

Witness the spectacle of epic cardboard creations poised for glory along Lake Accotink's shoreline. Stick around for the races later in the day as contestants give it everything they've got! Admission for spectators and contestants is FREE.

Parking fee: $4 per vehicle to enter park (no charge other days)

Start planning now to meet friends and family at our old-fashioned 4th of July Celebration. Sit back and relax as our DJ plays patriotic and summer tunes. The whole family can enjoy the children’s arts & crafts, bingo, and games, and food may be purchased at the event. At dark, watch a spectacular fireworks display synchronized to music. Admission is free, so come out and enjoy the festivities. Children’s crafts, bingo, and family music begin at 6:30pm, and fireworks start at 9:30pm. Bready Park is located off the W&OD Trail. Parking is limited – skip the hassle of driving and enjoy a walk to the celebration. If you do drive, parking is available at Herndon Middle School and the Herndon Community Center.

The nation's premiere exhibition of contemporary needlework is held annually at Woodlawn, a National Trust Historic Landmark located in Alexandria, VA. Woodlawn was the home of Eleanor Custis Lewis, one of America's foremost needleworkers. The exhibition honors her legacy by maintaining the tradition of the needle arts and by raising funds to preserve her estate. Woodlawn is a completely self-supporting nonprofit historic site.
