Led by classically trained string players Wil B. (viola) and Kev Marcus (violin), Black Violin is “[keeping] classical music alive for the next generation” (NPR). The group uses its unique blend of classical and hip-hop to break down stereotypes and encourage people of all ages, races, and economic backgrounds to join together to look beyond cultural barriers. Black Violin’s growing list of collaborators includes Wyclef Jean, Wu-Tang Clan, Alicia Keys, Elton John, and Yo-Yo Ma.
