On Saturday, June 15, Gunston Hall will hold its annual Declaration Day celebration. The event commemorates the establishment of American rights such as freedom of the press and freedom of religion. Declaration Day marks the anniversary of the Virginia Declaration of Rights, drafted by founding father George Mason in 1776.

The program kicks off with a naturalization ceremony, where 50 candidates will become America’s newest citizens. A small reception launches the rest of the family-friendly day. Guests may tour the 1750s Mansion, see the museum theater performance: George Mason’s Legacy, celebrate with birthday cake, and so much more. This year’s event will include visits to Gunston Hall’s brand-new exhibition, “Revolutionary Rights.”

Admission is complimentary for this program, which runs 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Snacks and lunch will be available for purchase onsite through the local Lions Club (cash only).
