George Washington's Mount Vernon is celebrating 50 years of Virginia is for Lovers by hosting Fairfax County's first permanent LOVEworks sign at George Washington's Distillery and Gristmill!  The LOVEworks sign will be on display during An American Celebration at Mount Vernon - which is one of the most attended Independence Day events in the Capital Region on July 4th.  Access to the Distillery and Gristmill is available to all who purchase general admission tickets to Mount Vernon.  At the Distillery and Gristmill you'll see functioning reconstructions of George Washington's Distillery® and Gristmill, located 2.7 miles from the estate’s main entrance. Watch the mighty gears turning and the stones grinding at our Gristmill, where Washington produced flour and cornmeal. Within our functioning distillery, you can see where we make George Washington's whiskey. In 1799, it was one of the largest whiskey distilleries in America.
