To help kick off the growing season, the JK Community Farm is seeking teams of volunteers to participate in its first annual Plantathon. Volunteers will sow 9,000 vegetable on seven acres of land to help support the work of the farm, a nonprofit started by JK Moving Services to alleviate hunger in the community. The farm began last year to provide chemical free, healthy produce and protein to those struggling with food insecurity in the region. The farm donates the food to nonprofit partners, including Loudoun Hunger Relief, Food for Others and Arlington Food Assistance Center. The Plantathon will raise awareness about food insecurity in the region and help support the farm’s expansion to serve the greater region.
