Dean's Apple Cider and
Kiss Cookies
Slow-Cooker Mulled Apple Cider Ingredients
(Makes 8 Servings)
- 2 quarts good quality apple cider
- 2 (3-inch) cinnamon sticks
- 1 teaspoon whole cloves
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon allspice
- 1 orange (sliced)
​Method
- Place cinnamon sticks, cloves and allspice on a double thickness of cheesecloth. Bring up corners of cloth and tie with a string to form a bag.
- Place cider and brown sugar in a 3 quart slow cooker and stir until sugar dissolves.
- Add spice bag. Place orange slices on top. Cover and cook on low for 2-3 hours or until heated through. Discard spice bag before serving.
Peanut Butter Kiss Cookies Ingredients
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 egg
- 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- Additional granulated sugar
- Approx. 36 Hershey's kisses milk chocolates, unwrapped
Method
- Heat over to 375 degrees.
- In large bowl, beat 1/2 cup granulated sugar, brown sugar, peanut butter and egg with electric mixer on medium speed until well blended.
- Stir in flour, baking soda and baking powder until dough forms.
- Shape dough into 1 inch balls. Pour additional sugar on a plate and roll balls in sugar, then place on ungreased cookie sheets about 2 inches apart.
- Bake 8-10 minutes or until edges are light golden brown.
- Remove cookie sheets from oven and immediately press one Kiss in center of each cookie.
- Remove from cookie sheets to cooling rack.
Note: The warm cookies will slightly soften the Kisses. Allow to cool thoroughly so the Kisses can harden again.
