Biking Trails

From paved paths to extreme downhill mountain biking, if you're looking for two-wheeled adventure in Northern Virginia you've come to the right place. Below you can check out some of the best places locals go to get their biking in.

  • W&OD Trail - Often called the skinniest park in Virginia, Washington & Old Dominion (W&OD) Railroad Regional Park is a paved trail between Shirlington and Purcellville, Virginia and spans Fairfax County east/west. You can cycle anywhere along the 45-mile route which runs through the urban heartland and into the Virginia countryside.
  • Fountainhead Regional Park's Bike Trail Loops - With more than 15 miles of fun trails in the park, this location is a biker's dream. Fountainhead's black diamond biking trail is a fun experience even for the more seasoned mountain bikers. This place is a must visit if you're serious about your next biking adventure.
  • Burke Lake Park Trail - This trail is almost 5 miles long and is made up of a combination of natural trail paths and stonedust.  It offers a great chance to bike around the lake which is a favorite destination of locals during the warmer months.  There is a $5 admission fee to the park if you're not a Fairfax County resident.
  • Laurel Hill Bike Trail - This fun section of the Fairfax County Cross County Trail (CCT) is guides bikers through Lorton while criss crossing sections of woods and fields.
