Fairfax, VA -- February 13, 2025 -- The Fairfax County Virginia Semiquincentennial Commission announced the resignation of its Chair, Mr. Scott Stroh. Mr. Stroh, who was instrumental in organizing and leading the Commission, has stepped down from his position as Executive Director of Gunston Hall to assume the role of Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer at the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley.
 

During his time as Executive Director of Gunston Hall since 2013, Mr. Stroh led significant preservation and capital projects, expanded educational programs, and established new community partnerships. His leadership at Gunston Hall was marked by a commitment to historical preservation and community engagement. Mr. Stroh’s work demonstrated the importance of Fairfax County within the national historical narrative.
 

Before being elected as Chair of the Fairfax County Virginia Semiquincentennial Commission, Mr. Stroh was appointed by Fairfax County Supervisor Dan Storck to lead a work group tasked with planning the county's efforts for the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution. Under his guidance, the work group transitioned into the official Fairfax County 250th Commission, authorized by the Board of Supervisors on July 27, 2021. Mr. Stroh's efforts were crucial in establishing a comprehensive approach for county-wide celebrations, ensuring they reflect the historical and cultural significance of the anniversary.
 

In addition to his work with the Fairfax County Commission, Mr. Stroh also served on the Virginia American Revolution 250 Commission (VA250). His involvement included overseeing significant projects and collaborating with various historical and cultural organizations to ensure meaningful and inclusive celebrations.
 

The Fairfax County Virginia Semiquincentennial Commission expresses its gratitude to Mr. Stroh for his dedicated service and leadership.
