Visit Fairfax and Industry Partners Host Job Fair on May 10th from 10 am to Noon Board of Supervisors Vice Chairwoman Gross to Open Event with Brief Remarks.

Fairfax County, VA - April 20, 2010 - According to the U.S. Travel Association, 1 out of every 9 jobs in the U.S. depends on travel and tourism. Even amid ongoing reports of high unemployment rates across the country, the tourism and hospitality community continues to thrive and prosper with new jobs and exciting career opportunities.

As the industry celebrates its vast workforce next month with National Travel and Tourism Week, Visit Fairfax (www.fxva.com) and its local partners are hosting a job fair on Monday, May 10th to show that the industry isn't just strong-it's hiring!

"In 2009, visitors to Fairfax County directly supported almost 30,000 local jobs with earnings of $534.68 million," says Visit Fairfax President and CEO Barry Biggar. "While the majority of these jobs were in the leisure and hospitality industries, tourism impacts a multitude of businesses and crosses numerous industries in our area."

The 2010 Fairfax County Travel & Tourism Job Fair is scheduled for Monday, May 10th from 10 am to noon at the Westin Tysons Corner (7801 Leesburg Pike, Falls Church, VA). Fairfax County Board of Supervisors Vice Chairwoman Penelope Gross (Mason District) and Mr. Biggar will kick off the event with a brief rally starting at 9:00 am.
