Types of Military & First Responder Discounts in the Capital Region

Hotels

Many hotels throughout Fairfax County and the Washington, DC region offer special rates and packages for active-duty military personnel and veterans. In Fairfax County, the Fairfax Marriott at Fair Oaks offers military discounts for eligible guests. Beyond Fairfax County, many national hotels throughout the Capital Region, like Hilton, Hyatt, and IHG also offer military discounts.

Dining & Drinks

Military and first responder discounts can be found at a variety of restaurants, breweries, and coffee shops throughout Fairfax County as well. Public safety personnel in uniform can receive discounts at all Glory Days Grill locations throughout Fairfax County, and military personnel can enjoy savings at local coffee shops like Chloez Café and Weird Brothers Coffee. Beer lovers should also check out G34.3 Brewing Company, a veteran-owned brewery that offers discounts for veterans, active-duty military members, and first responders.

Additional military discounts may occasionally be available at bars and restaurants throughout Northern Virginia for patriotic holidays, like Veterans Day, Memorial Day, or Independence Day, and there may even be more offers in 2026 to celebrate America’s 250th birthday. Participating businesses and offers can change throughout the year, so make sure to verify that discounts are current.

 

Attractions & Entertainment

Military discounts aren't limited to hotels and restaurants. You can also find savings at a bunch of attractions and entertainment venues throughout Fairfax County.

Active-duty military members receive free admission to George Mason's Gunston Hall, one of the region's most important historic sites. Families can also take advantage of military discounts at both Dave & Buster's locations in Fairfax County, or burn some energy with discounts at Flight Adventure Park and Launch Family Entertainment. Movie lovers can find military discounts at Angelika Film Center & Cafe in Merrifield.

Note: All of the Smithsonian Museums and the Smithsonian National Zoo offer free admission to everyone. Military families may also want to explore Blue Star Museums in the region, which offer free admission to active-duty military personnel and their families from Armed Forces Day until Labor Day.

 

Transportation

The Metro travels along an elevated track, surrounded by a mix of urban buildings and lush greenery under a cloudy sky.

The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA), which operates the region's Metrorail and Metrobus, does not currently offer any general military, veteran, or first responder discount programs.
