A ribbon-cutting ceremony for Chessie’s Carousel was held at the Lee District Family Recreation Area on Saturday, July 8, 2017 to mark the opening of Chessie’s Carousel. Modeled after the popular Clemyjontri Park carousel in McLean, this new addition to Lee District Park allows riders who use wheelchairs to transfer to a bench and move vertically, rather than riding in a fixed position.

More than 6,400 attendees from 70 countries, including over 1,300 international and domestic travel buyers and record 530 journalists from the U.S. and abroad, attended the U.S. Travel Association’s 49th annual IPW. The event, which is the single largest generator of international travel to the U.S., convened in Washington, D.C. for the first time in its history. Read more about the success of IPW.

2017 marks the U.S.-India Travel and Tourism Partnership Year.  This market is currently one of the fastest growing inbound markets as the U.S. Department of Commerce National Travel and Tourism Office has forecasted a 72 percent increase in arrivals from 2015 through 2021. The 316-room Crowne Plaza Tysons Corner-McLean hotel recently completed a comprehensive multi-million-dollar renovation, encompassing guest rooms, public space, as well as the two restaurants.  The hotel has now reflagged to the DoubleTree by Hilton McLean Tysons, effective August 24, 2017.  All guestrooms now feature keyless entry,  42” TVs with over 100 channels inclusive of an extensive foreign language channel listing, refrigerators, and safes.
