June is annually recognized as LGBTQIA+ Pride Month in the United States to honor the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan. In celebration of Pride, Fairfax County features a number of vibrant and inclusive festivities happening all month.

Reston Pride

Reston Pride - LGBT - Lake Anne Plaza

Reston Pride’s annual Festival at Lake Anne Plaza kicks off Pride Month in a huge way. Featuring performances by local musicians and artists, an appearance by BETTY, dozens of vendors, speakers, and family-friendly festivities – all along beautiful Lake Anne.


Mosaic Pride Festival
📍 Mosaic District | 📆 June 3, 2023


Join Mosaic District for a fun day of events and activities, including the Pride Parade, which runs the length of District Ave. Plus, on the main stage, find performances by drag queens, dance performers, and live music. Mosaic District retailers are also getting in on the fun – from brunch and rooftop views of the parade at Parc de Ville to exclusive Pride cocktails at Red Apron Butcher and free Pride flags at Bloomie’s to Pride painting classes at Muse Paint Bar. Also, be on the lookout for a bright and cheery crosswalk, refreshed by artist Serina Chowdhury.


Fairfax Pride

The City of Fairfax kicks off Pride Month with an inaugural event at Old Town Hall, featuring children’s activities, speakers, area vendors, and a dance party featuring several drag queen performances throughout the evening.
 

Capital Pride Parade & Pride Festival and Concert
📍 Washington, DC | 📆 June 10-11, 2023

Washington DC’s annual Capital Pride celebrations are traveled to far and wide. Join the festive and colorful celebration on Saturday for the Pride Parade and jam out to Idina Menzel and Hayley Kiyoko (among others) at the Pride Festival and Concert on Sunday. Also – save the date for international WorldPride, which DC will host in 2025!

 

Pride Flow & Celebration

Honest Soul Yoga will be hosting an outdoor yoga flow celebration celebrating Pride Month at Lakeside Park. Free event. BYO Yoga Mat and water.


Pride Night Out
📍 Springfield Town Center | 📆 June 23, 2023

Pride Night Out - 2023 - Springfield Town Center

This family-friendly evening event at Springfield Town Center benefits Safe Space NOVA and will include music by DJ Pierre, a live performance by Evry Pleasure, community vendors, and a Pride Photobooth.

 

Out & About Festival

Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts will host a two-day, three-stage Out & About Festival of music and nature headlined by Brandi Carlile in America's only National Park for the Performing Arts from June 24-25. Out & About celebrates pride by spotlighting LBGTQ+ artists and allies who live out loud. Appearances by Rufus Wainwright, Lucius, and many more. Performances will take place at the Filene Center and at the Children’s Theatre-in-the-Woods.


Pride Month Poetry Reading

In an event presented by Fairfax Poet Laureate Danielle Badra and ArtsFairfax, this special reading will feature some of the region’s most prominent LGBTQ+ poets including Sunu Chandy, Holly Mason Badra, Kim Roberts, and Malik Thompson. Free!


Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington

McLean Community Center celebrates Pride Month during its Summer Sunday Concerts in the Park schedule with the Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington, whose 14-voice harmony will bring contemporary and Broadway favorites to the day – all without a single instrument. Bring a picnic and chairs or a blanket! Free.

Makers Union Rainbow Cocktail - 2023

If you missed Makers Union's Lady Gaga Pride Night on June 5, now’s your chance to join the Kings & Queens from the Haus of Attenshun for a double-header drag brunch. Other Activities & Promotions

  • Fairfax County Public Libraries are offering various events throughout the month, like Teen Pride DIY (June 20), Pride Trivia Night (June 26), and some downloadable coloring pages, games, book recommendations and more. Find those activities and event info here.
     
  • Smell of Love Candles, a local Fairfax County company run by 12-year-old Kidpreneur Alejandro Buxton, is offering special Love Wins Wax Melts this month. Each jar is filled with 3oz of colorful wax bears scented in citrus and agave to help spread the message of love and acceptance. (pictured)
