Spring and summer are two of the best seasons around the DMV, not only for the incredible lineup of festivals, events, and fairs, but also for the exciting return of outdoor sports. This year brings back some local family favorites along with a few professional teams to keep on your radar. Here are some sports events you won’t want to miss in the coming months:
Old Glory DC Rugby Season
April - June

With a home opener at George Mason Stadium on Sunday, April 26, Old Glory DC, the area's only Major League Rugby team now calls Fairfax County home for its 2026 season. Newbies to the rugby world can expect a family-friendly environment, lots of energy, and a lot of physicality. At the stadium, look for expanded food and drink offerings, a lively beer garden, and local vendors on site. Plus, Fairfax County brewery Bunnyman Brewing Co. is the team's official beer sponsor. Look for the team to kick off the season at Bunnyman's Lorton location on Friday, April 24 during the Bunnyman Live series. If you miss it, no worries—Bunnyman Live will take place every Friday.

LIV Golf Virginia
May 7 - 10
The LIV Golf Virginia 2026 tournament, which is four days of golf, music, food, and entertainment, features 57 golfers across 13 teams competing - including some professional U.S. superstars like Dustin Johnson, Phil Mickelson, and Bryson DeChambeau. This tournament will take place along the banks of the Potomac River in nearby Loudoun County.
This event not only focuses on the athletes and teams, but also on the delivering a "golf festival vibe" experience for fans, with live music, local food and drinks, and a full day of celebrations for fans of all ages.

Perch Putt
Now Open

You know it's almost summertime when this popular mini golf spot opens for the season! Nestled 11 stories in the air, at the top of Capital One Center, this 18-hole course is a go-to for both kids and adults. Surrounded by one-of-a-kind food trucks and right next to Starr Hill Biergarten, you can enjoy live music and aerial views of Tysons while you play.
Masterpiece Mini Golf
Now Open
Located at the Workhouse Arts Center, this isn't just another mini golf course. Its 18 holes are interactive and art-themed, created by some of the most talented artists in the area. Masterpiece Mini Golf welcomes all ages and abilites and is a perfect combination of art, education, and fun! While you're here, snap a selfie with one of #FXVA's hand-designed LOVEwork signs and take a sip (or two) of local beer at Bunnyman Lorton.
Swing into Summer Celebrity Homerun Derby & Game
May 30
It’s time for Capital One Ballpark’s signature annual event. Bring the family to cheer on your favorite sports and entertainment celebrities for a good cause: a charity softball event featuring current and former pro athletes, a home run derby, skills competitions, and more. DC Divas Women's Football
May - June
It’s the year of the Divas—and women’s professional sports in Fairfax County! Washington, DC’s national champions in 2015 and 2016, the DC Divas, will be playing all home games at John R. Lewis High School in Springfield. Don't miss the season opener on May 6 and a home game on June 13. Find tickets and the full schedule here.
