Gardens & Nature Centers

GARDENS & NATURE CENTERS

NOTE: All county parks are currently closed, but trails are open. Here are 3 websites that'll help: Trails, Parks with trails (use the filter), and the Park Authority Trail Buddy. County parks are asking residents to avoid driving to parks and enjoy the ones near their homes instead.

Since Fairfax County is in the heart of metropolitan Northern Virginia, not many outsiders would think that we know how to have fun in the great outdoors. Well, think again! Over 30,000 acres of outdoor adventures and Virginia National Parks span across our county lines.

Seeking tranquility? We have nearly a dozen exquisite gardens and educational nature centers waiting for you to discover! Seeking a bit more adventure? Our Fairfax County parks and Northern Virginia Regional Parks offer incredible opportunities for hikingbikingboating, fishing, kayaking, birdwatching, and exploring.

We've compiled some of the top spots to get your nature on in Fairfax County below, but if you're looking for a bit more action, don't forget to check out our list of outdoor activities and sports! Also, many of these nature centers and gardens hold events and workshops (for kids AND adults), so keep tabs on our calendar for all the details.
