Memorial Day Events in D.C. and Fairfax County

Each Memorial Day, our nation honors the brave men and women who gave their lives to protect ours. Our reverence is the least we can give in return. As the unofficial kickoff to summer, it's also an opportunity to enjoy the freedoms they safeguarded. Throughout the entire long weekend, there's no better place than Washington, DC and the National Capital Region. Take time this year to honor the lives risked and lost throughout the history of our nation.

Join us in the National Capital Region for this year's tribute to our fallen and our brave. With memorials and festivals scattered across the region, a stay in Fairfax County will put you right in the midst of the action.

Things to Do in D.C. On Memorial Day Weekend

Many people choose to participate in various Memorial Day activities to commemorate this important day, including visiting cemeteries and placing flowers or flags on the graves of fallen soldiers. Parades are also a common sight on Memorial Day, with many communities holding events to honor veterans and current military personnel. Other activities include attending memorial services, flying the American flag at half-staff until noon, and observing a moment of silence at 3:00 p.m. Whatever the activity, Memorial Day is a day to remember and honor those who have given their lives in service to their country.
